Prince George’s County man claims Bonus Match 5 prize
A Brentwood man who plays Bonus Match 5 approximately once a month certainly chose the right day to play! The retiree matched all five winning numbers in the Sept. 8 drawing, which gave him a $50,000 top prize. He also matched four numbers on another line of his ticket to boost his win by $400.
“I checked the numbers online the next morning,” said the father of six. The happy player brought a friend with him to Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. “I had to check my numbers five or six times before I really believed it.”
This is his largest Lottery win to date. The retired bank employee won $1,000 on Multi-Match once before and plans on investing this $50,000 prize. The 68-year-old found his lucky $6 ticket at New Hampshire Sunoco. The retailer, located at 6360 New Hampshire Ave. in Takoma Park, received a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket.
Bonus Match 5 drawings take place seven days a week. Players select five numbers ranging from 1 to 39. The Bonus Ball drawn from the remaining 34 numbers provides extra chances to win. Your ticket is a winner if you match five, four or three of the original five winning numbers selected in the drawing. If you match the Bonus Ball number, you only need to match four, three or two of your original numbers to win!
