Someone won second-largest progressive prize in $5 game
We’ve got a winner! A lucky Maryland Lottery player is $104,290 richer today after braving a cold, frosty night to buy a FAST PLAY Payday ticket in Essex.
This is the second-largest progressive top prize and the fifth progressive top prize won overall in the $5 Payday game.
The lucky player bought the winning ticket at 9:57 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Norman’s Liquors located at 1701 Eastern Boulevard in Essex. This is the first progressive top-prize-winning FAST PLAY ticket sold by the Baltimore County retailer. There are 15 progressive top prizes remaining in the game, along with thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000.
The lucky retailer wins, too. The store will earn a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning ticket of $100,000 or more.
Lottery officials recommend the winner sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until claiming the prize. Winners typically get 182 days to claim prizes. However, the Lottery has temporarily extended claiming deadlines due to Maryland’s COVID-19 state of emergency. The Lottery Claims Center is accepting appointments for those wishing to claim prizes in person or winners can claim prizes by mail. Click here to schedule an appointment. Details on how to claim by mail are available here.
Payday is one of four FAST PLAY games that went on sale statewide on June 15 and one of 16 FAST PLAY games currently available. FAST PLAY features instant-win games printed by Lottery terminals and self-service vending machines that play like scratch-offs.
The Payday progressive top prize starts at $40,000 and increases with the purchase of each ticket until a top-prize winning ticket is sold. The top prize amount is updated every 15 minutes on in-store video displays and on mdlottery.com, and an up-to-the-minute figure is displayed on Payday tickets.
