Player wins first progressive top prize on $5 game
Happy payday to our latest lucky FAST PLAY fan. Someone bought a $58,476 winning ticket in the new $5 Payday progressive game on Sunday, June 21, at Royal Farms #35 in Baltimore.
The Baltimore County store is located at 8803 Philadelphia Road. This is the first progressive top prize-winning ticket sold for the Payday game, which went on sale June 15. The game has 19 progressive top prizes remaining. The Payday progressive top prize grows with the purchase of each Payday ticket until the progressive top prize is hit, then it resets to the minimum progressive top prize amount of $40,000.
The lucky retailer wins, too. The convenience store will earn a $584.76 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning ticket of $20,000-$99.000. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
Lottery officials recommend the winner sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until claiming the prize. Winners typically get 182 days to claim prizes. However, the Lottery has temporarily extended claiming deadlines due to Maryland’s COVID-19 state of emergency. The Lottery Claims Center is accepting appointments for those wishing to claim prizes in person or winners can claim prizes by mail. Click here to schedule an appointment. Details on how to claim by mail are available here.
Payday is one of four FAST PLAY games that went on sale statewide on June 15 and one of nine total FAST PLAY games. FAST PLAY features instant-win games printed by Lottery terminals and self-service vending machines that play like scratch-offs.
The Payday progressive top prize increases with the purchase of each ticket until a top-prize winning ticket is sold. The top prize amount is updated every 15 minutes on in-store video displays and on mdlottery.com, and an up-to-the-minute figure is displayed on Lucky Numbers tickets.
