Player wins third progressive top prize in $5 game
A Maryland Lottery player is $86,525 richer after braving the winds and torrential rain of Tropical Storm Isaias to enjoy a round of FAST PLAY fun. The lucky Lottery player won the third progressive top prize in the $5 Payday game.
The lucky ticket was purchased at 10:13 a.m. Aug. 4 at the Soda Pop Shop located at 1026 Ingleside Avenue in Catonsville. This is the first FAST PLAY ticket with a progressive top-prize win sold by the Baltimore city retailer. There are 17 progressive top prizes remaining in the game where the progressive top prize starts at $40,000 and increases with the purchase of every ticket.
The lucky retailer wins, too. The convenience store will earn an $865.25 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning ticket in the game of $20,000-$99,999. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
Lottery officials recommend the winner sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until claiming the prize. Winners typically get 182 days to claim prizes. However, the Lottery has temporarily extended claiming deadlines due to Maryland’s COVID-19 state of emergency. The Lottery Claims Center is accepting appointments for those wishing to claim prizes in person or winners can claim prizes by mail. Click here to schedule an appointment. Details on how to claim by mail are available here.
Payday is one of four FAST PLAY games that went on sale statewide on June 15 and one of nine FAST PLAY games currently available. FAST PLAY features instant-win games printed by Lottery terminals and self-service vending machines that play like scratch-offs.
The Payday progressive top prize starts at $40,000 and increases with the purchase of each ticket until a progressive-top-prize winning ticket is sold. The top prize amount is updated every 15 minutes on in-store video displays and on mdlottery.com, and an up-to-the-minute figure is displayed on Payday tickets.
