First Marilyn Monroe™ Game Top Prize Goes to Lucky Lady

Claims $10,000 win on instant ticket

On a cold and gloomy Monday, a lucky Maryland Lottery player received a warm welcome and a hearty round of applause as she claimed the first $10,000 top prize on the Marilyn Monroe scratch-off. Lady Luck was certainly on her side!

“I can’t believe this is real,” said the 73-year-old. “I’m just very grateful that I finally won! I’m truly blessed.”

The Baltimore County woman purchased instant tickets for herself and her brother at McLellan’s  Liquors located at 6320 Sherwood Road in Baltimore. She walked to her car and scratched off her instant tickets, hoping to win the first top prize on the new $2 Marilyn Monroe™ scratch-off. Originally thinking that she won $10, the Baltimore resident returned to the store to claim her prize. When she scanned the ticket, however, and saw it said to claim her prize at the Lottery, the happy player scratched off the rest of the instant ticket. She won $10,000, not $10!

The lucky lady left the store calm, cool and collected. She got in her car and drove straight to her brother’s house to tell him the great news. “My brother was so happy for me,” she said. “I have won here and there, but never this much and it could not have come at a better time.” Eager to claim her big prize on the same day she won it, the loyal scratch-off player immediately traveled to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The happy winner planned to save her $10,000 prize for the future. There are still four $10,000 Marilyn Monroe™ top prizes awaiting discovery at Lottery retailers and thousands of other prizes ranging from $2 to $5,000.

This game also offers a second-chance contest. Players can win $5,000 in cash prizes or a trip to the Marilyn Monroe Spa in New York City plus a $5,000 prize, another $1,000 to spend at the spa and $1,000 in spending money. Players enter non-winning Marilyn Monroe™ scratch-offs into their My Lottery Rewards account for a chance to win. Upcoming drawings are April 24, May 22, June 19, July 17 and Aug. 14.
