Food Truck Promoter Super-sizes a Racetrax Superfecta Prize

Towson resident enjoys $22,187 win

A Towson teen just got a major deposit into his college fund because the 19-year-old has a knack for virtual horseracing.

The young player placed a Superfecta wager in the Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax game last week, winning $22,187 when each of his four horses crossed the finish line ahead of the pack.

The happy player works as part of The Gathering, a promotional team that organizes food truck rallies throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area. He spends his workday keeping foodies in the know with social media promotion of events or organizing staff at one of the rallies. Playing Lottery games is an occasional indulgence. “I’ve only played Racetrax a couple of times,” he explained.

His lucky horses were waiting at the Towson Shell, where he placed his fateful Superfecta bet and bought a cool drink. The Baltimore County resident added the game’s Bonus option, which multiplies winnings, to his $2 Quick Pick ticket and watched as the No. 10, 1, 12 and 4 horses finished in order! When the fortunate foodie saw his payout, he secured his ticket and tried to keep calm.

The lucky man, escorted by two co-workers, happily claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters. He planned to deposit the funds into a savings account earmarked for college tuition.

Towson Shell is also a winner. The retailer located at 935 York Road in Towson will receive a bonus of $221 from the Lottery for selling a winning Racetrax ticket over $10,000.
