Fort Washington Retailer Sells $1 Million Mega Millions Ticket

Jackpot rolls to $232 million for Friday’s drawing

Check your tickets, Mega Millions players, because somebody in Maryland is a $1 million winner! If you bought a ticket at the Tantallon Exxon in Fort Washington for the Tuesday, June 26 drawing, you may be the state’s newest millionaire. One player in Maryland and another in California matched five of the winning numbers in the drawing to capture $1 million second-tier prizes.

The winning numbers were 17, 25, 29, 39 and 60; the Mega Ball number was 19 and the optional Megaplier number was 2. Lottery officials encourage the winner to sign the back of the ticket immediately and put it in a safe location. The winner has 182 days to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters located at 1800 Washington Boulevard in Baltimore.

No one won the Mega Millions jackpot, which rolls to an estimated $232 million for the Friday, June 29 drawing with an estimated cash option of $139.5 million.

Tantallon Exxon is a winner as well. The Prince George’s County retailer, located at 10815 Indian Head Highway, will receive $2,500 bonus for selling the $1 million ticket.

This is the second $1 million winning Mega Millions ticket sold in 2018. An anonymous Indian Head woman was a $1 million winner in the June 15 drawing and claimed her prize on June 26.

Nationally, 603,458 tickets were winners in the June 26 drawing. Maryland saw 16,678 players win prizes ranging from the $1 million second-tier win down to $2. The 1,945 Marylanders who paid the extra $1 to add Megaplier to the $2 ticket for the drawing saw their prizes double.

The last Mega Millions jackpot win in the state came in March 2014, when Maryland and Florida players split a $414 million jackpot.

Mega Millions tickets are sold in 46 states and jurisdictions. Odds of winning a $1 million prize are 1 in 12 million with overall odds of winning 1 in 24.
