Claims $1 Million Top Prize on Million Money Match Scratch-off
Ringing in the New Year for a retired 60-year-old Fort Washington woman used to be a reminder that her family’s savings fund needed attention. Unbeknownst to her, her fortune would suddenly and drastically change after purchasing a Million Money Match scratch-off ticket and winning the first of the ticket’s three $1 million top-tier prizes.
“When I saw the two horseshoe symbols saying that I had won a million dollars, I was in total disbelief,” she said. “It’s weird because I kept getting this feeling that I would win big all last year.”
The lucky winner, who was a postal worker for over forty years, said that she wished she and her husband had been more vigilant about saving. “We were a little nervous about our future,” she said. “This money will certainly provide the cushion we need for retirement now and provide a second chance for us.” She told Lottery officials that besides putting some of the money in her savings and paying bills, she also intends to help out her daughter, who is currently unemployed.
The Million Money Match scratch-off ticket debuted in December and still has two $1 million top prizes remaining to be won. The winning ticket was purchased at F &W Convenience Store, located at 974 Swan Creek Road East in Fort Washington.
