Foster Mom’s Life of Blessings Now Includes $50,000 Lottery Prize

Lucky Bonus Match 5 ticket wins in July 21 drawing

Until July 21, a Baltimore foster mom’s fortune came in the form of a life filled with blessings. That night’s Bonus Match 5 drawing delivered both a financial fortune and yet another blessing when she won the game’s $50,000 top prize.

“I’ve been blessed many times and now I’ve been blessed once more,” said the winner.

An occasional Lottery player, the 72-year-old had only returned to playing Bonus Match 5 a week before her lucky hit. She bought her $2 quick-pick ticket from Erdman BP in Baltimore on the day of the drawing.

Late that night, in between TV shows, she checked her ticket against the game’s winning numbers using the Maryland Lottery app on her phone. Seeing that each of the five numbers on her ticket matched the numbers drawn that evening gave her quite a shock.

The former foster child has spent her life sharing her blessings with others. She’s provided a home for several children – most adopted from foster care – just as she was adopted. The happy winner said the $50,000 prize will help pay for improvements to her home and in the life of her youngest child.

“My youngest is graduating and will be headed to college, so this extra money will help,” she explained.

Her lucky retailer, Erdman BP, is located at 4901 Erdman Avenue in Baltimore. In addition to being the site of a $50,000 win, the retailer earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize Bonus Match 5 ticket.
