Frederick County Golfer Sinks Third Lottery Win in Three Years

Donald Henson of Frederick County sinks another big scratch-off win!

Knoxville resident wins $10,000 on $100,000 Instant Jackpot scratch-off

A Frederick County man won big at the golf course this week even before swinging his first club. That’s because just before teeing off, Knoxville resident Donald Henson reached into his golf bag and pulled out a $100,000 Instant Jackpot scratch-off he had purchased before heading to the course.

The 68-year-old player scratched off the $10 instant ticket right there, revealing several matches and lucky symbols and winning a $10,000 prize.

Donald said that this win was exciting, but it wasn’t his first time on the Lottery leaderboard. The lucky linksman said he won twice before, beginning with a prize two years ago in South Carolina and a $10,000 win in Maryland just last year.

The lucky player said that he revealed a series of prizes on almost every spot of his $100,000 Instant Jackpot game as he scratched it off at the first hole. When he totaled the amounts, they added up to a whopping $10,000. Donald texted the news to his wife and explained his excitement to his fellow golfers before starting the round.

The retired electrical engineer and U.S. Army veteran said he managed to finish his game. He told Lottery officials that the nervous excitement didn’t throw off his 17-handicap game for long.

“I signed the ticket and kept it with me,” Donald said. “After a bit, I settled down and then hit par, par, par, bogey, par.”

The happy husband plans to put his winnings in the bank. He added that he has his eye out for a new set of clubs.

The retailer where Donald scored his third round of Lottery luck is Brown’s Liquors and Deli located at 908 East Patrick Street in Frederick.

His lucky $100,000 Instant Jackpot scratch-off launched in December and features a $100,000 top prize. Donald found the game’s sixth $10,000 prize. There are also seven $100,000 top prizes and eight $20,000 prizes remaining.
