Winner will enjoy prize of $1,000 a day for life
Talk about the Best Day Ever! A lucky Maryland Lottery player just made history by becoming the first person in the state to win $1,000 a day for life, courtesy of the Cash4Life game.
The player bought the winning ticket in the May 2 drawing from Weis Market #100 located at 2 Old Camps Road in Frederick. He or she can receive $1,000 a day for life paid in annual installments of $365,000 or choose a one-time cash payment of $7 million. Check your ticket for the winning numbers of 10, 14, 30, 55, 56; the Cash Ball was 1.
“Congratulations to our lucky winner and to Maryland,” said Gordon Medenica, director of Maryland Lottery and Gaming. “Our new game just launched in January, and we’re excited to welcome our first top-prize winner at Lottery headquarters.”
The winner has 182 days to claim the prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. Lottery officials strongly encourage players to sign the back of tickets immediately and keep them in safe locations until claiming their prizes. Our top-prize winner wasn’t the only happy Cash4Life player in the May 2 drawing, which saw a total of 14,375 Maryland winners of prizes of $2 and up.
Maryland Lottery and Gaming began offering the Cash4Life game in January, joining the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Tennessee. Since the game began in June 2014, Cash4Life has had 15 top-prize winners and 22 second-tier winners. The second-tier prize offers players the option of $1,000 a week for life, paid in annual installments of $52,000, or a one-time payment of $1 million. Six other prize levels range from $2 to $2,500. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 8.
In Maryland, tickets are available at nearly 4,600 Lottery retailers and cost $2 for each line of six numbers. Drawings take place Mondays and Thursdays at 9 p.m. and can be viewed live on mdlottery.com. The cutoff time for purchasing tickets on drawing nights is 8:45 p.m. For selling the top-prize ticket, Weis Market #100 will receive a $7,500 bonus from the Lottery.
