Stephen Miller Sr. of Baltimore plans to get a new ride after winning $10,000 playing Keno.

Baltimore man wins $10,000 playing the popular game

A 59-year-old Baltimore man is getting ready to shop for a new vehicle after winning $10,000 playing Keno, his favorite Maryland Lottery game. Stephen Miller Sr. plays weekly at The Gateway Tavern and last Friday was no different – except that Lady Luck made an appearance!

Stephen enjoys his outings to the Baltimore city retailer and always plays the same Keno numbers. “My playslip stays the same,” he said. “I always play the 8-spot with special numbers and family birthdays.”

He bought this particular 20-draw ticket on his way out of the local pub. Stephen put the ticket away and headed home. He checked his ticket the next morning by pulling up the Keno winning numbers for his games on the Maryland Lottery website.

“At first, I thought I only matched seven numbers,” said the lucky player. “Then I saw the one number up in the corner and realized that I matched all eight of my numbers.” An 8-spot Keno game wins $10,000 and Stephen could not be happier.

The father of two called one of his sons to share the news and then took a picture of the winning game and his ticket and texted the images to him as proof.

Stephen told Lottery Officials that the win came right on time. He’s been driving a rental vehicle because his truck recently broke down. The environmental service manager for the U.S. Army plans to use the prize for a down payment on a new vehicle. He also plans to tip the retailer who sold him the winning ticket.

The Gateway Tavern located at 3520 Annapolis Road in Baltimore will also receive a bonus from the Lottery. For selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more, this lucky retailer will receive a bonus of $100.
