From Feeling Lucky to Being Lucky: Baltimore Man Wins $100,000

Player starting business with The Price Is Right® scratch-off prize

When Clarence Barksdale plays the Maryland Lottery, his preference is for scratch-off games. “Yeah, that’s the thing,” said the Baltimore man. “I just feel lucky.”

That lucky feeling turned into a lucky win recently when Clarence played The Price Is Right® game and won its $100,000 top prize.

“I’m feeling real good right now,” he said after claiming his winnings at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. In fact, he felt so good, the 29-year-old busted out with an impromptu celebration rap!

In addition to playing The Price Is Right®, Clarence is a fan of scratch-off games like Old Bay Bucks and the baseball-themed Home Run Riches. “I’m an Orioles fan,” he said.

The city resident usually buys instant tickets at Baltimore’s M&M Liquors located at 2500 East Biddle Street, which is where he bought The Price is Right® scratch-off. For selling a $100,000-winning scratch-off, M&M Liquors receives a bonus of $1,000 from the Lottery.

What will he do with his big win? Clarence is certified in lead and asbestos removal and hopes to spend his prize establishing an abatement business. Although planning a move with his family, he doesn’t expect the prize will lead to a major lifestyle change. “We’re going to live like we still don’t have it,” he said, adding, “Money can go as quick as it comes.”

The Price Is Right® game launched on April 22, 2019. There are still nine remaining $100,000 prizes, and 13 unclaimed $50,000 prizes waiting to be found at Lottery retailers across the state. If you have a non-winning The Price Is Right® scratch-off, make sure you enter it into the second-chance promotion for a chance to win up to $100,000. For details, visit mdlottery.com/thepriceisright.
