Gaithersburg Man Harvests Fruitful $30,000 Lottery Prize

Finds his luck with Fruit Explosion scratch-off

211-Fruit-Explosion-ITVMA Montgomery County man enjoyed a very fruitful week, thanks to an explosion of sorts courtesy of the Maryland Lottery. The loyal player, who buys scratch-offs throughout the week, happened to harvest a Fruit Explosion instant ticket that carried the game’s $30,000 top prize.

The 54-year-old kitchen assistant had stopped at Anna’s Deli Plus in Germantown to buy some scratch-offs when he made his lucky choice. He came home with 10 instant tickets to scratch and found the winner.

“I am very excited, but if I could just win one more time!” said the Gaithersburg resident. He won $50,000 playing a Maryland Lottery game about 10 years ago and is hoping more luck is in his future. He shared news about his win only with his two daughters and stashed his ticket in a secret location until he could claim his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

The lucky man plans to pay off credit card debt with his prize. Anna’s Deli Plus, which is located at 11512 Middlebrook Road, also shares in the harvest with a $300 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize scratch-off of $20,000 or more.

Fans of the $3 Fruit Explosion scratch-off can set their sights on plenty of big prizes. There are still five top prizes remaining as well as 17 $1,000 winning tickets and other smaller prizes. Stop by your favorite retailer and try your luck.
