Wins top prize on Grand Slam scratch-off
A 25-year-old Gaithersburg man visited Lottery headquarters yesterday to claim a $50,000 prize he’s been working toward for several years. Although he found his Grand Slam winning scratch-off several weeks ago, the smile on his face made it clear to all that the excitement of the win had not dimmed a bit.
“When I saw the match that gave me the $50,000 I was amazed. I’d been playing for so long without ever seeing anything like this,” he told officials.
The employee of a landscaping firm, who is originally from El Salvador, described himself as a big fan of all of Lottery games. “I’ve tried them all, but now the scratch-offs are my favorite.”
With his $50,000 prize, the lucky winner plans to pay bills and start a college fund for his young son. He will always have a warm place in his heart for the staff at the Kwik Stop Deli, located at 15104 Frederick Road in Rockville, the retailer that sold him his $50,000 winner.
