A scratch-off fan from Gaithersburg satisfied his itch to play Maryland Lottery instant tickets in a winning way. The lucky man played his go-to instant ticket, 20X The Cash, and got to make the trip from Montgomery County to Maryland Lottery headquarters to claim his $50,000 prize.

“It is easy to play,” said the winner, who dubbed his big win “Scratch the Itch.”
The $5 game has players match a set of winning numbers to take home the prize shown beneath that number. In this case, the loyal player matched each of the four winning numbers to snag the game’s top prize. As for plans for the proceeds, the 51-year-old recently bought a house and plans to pay down his mortgage.
A single $50,000 top prize remains unclaimed in the 20X The Cash game along with thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $5,000. The game, which launched in January, is a member of the Multiplier family of games that includes the 5X The Cash, 10X The Cash and 50X The Cash games.
Also a winner is Friendship Gourmet Market. For selling the top-prize scratch-off in the game, the Montgomery County retailer located at 5550 Friendship Boulevard in Chevy Chase earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
