Germantown Woman Rolls a Double Dice Scratch-off Win

Captures Top Prize of $50,000

Double DiceTrying a different Maryland Lottery scratch-off game paid off in five figures for a Germantown woman, whose decision to roll with the Double Dice Scratch-off game made her $50,000 richer.

The loyal scratch-off player has no other large wins to her name and was looking for some beginners luck when she tried the newly released ticket. She is elated to win the ticket’s top prize. The 37-year-old mother of two bought two tickets Friday at the 3 Star Beer and Wine store in Gaithersburg and then returned home to scratch her tickets.

“I am very, very happy,” the stay-at-home mom said, smiling. She cares for her 18-month-old daughter and 13-year-old son. “I was looking and looking at the ticket. This is so good.”

She hid the ticket over the weekend, telling only her husband and brother about her good fortune. Her brother brought her to Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on Monday to claim her ticket because her husband was busy at work. The couple is not certain yet how they will spend the money, she said, but she plans to keep playing scratch-off tickets because she enjoys them so much.

The 3 Star Beer and Wine Store is located at 18524 Woodfield Road in Gaithersburg. The game, which launched at the end of May has seven remaining $50,000 top prizes.
