Germantown Woman Wins Early Christmas Present

Montgomery County resident takes home $10,000 prize on Diamond 7s scratch-off ticket

239-Diamond-7s-ITVMA $10,000 win on the Diamond 7s scratch-off brought a very happy lady to Lottery headquarters on Dec. 21. Accompanied by her sister, she was glowing as she shared the story of her Lottery win, which came right in time for some Christmas shopping.

The 39-year-old medical assistant said she first played the $10 Diamond 7s scratch-off on Dec. 16 and won $50. Feeling lucky, the next morning she went to the 7-Eleven at 13001 Wisteria Drive in Germantown and purchased six more Diamond 7s tickets. But instead of scratching the tickets there in the store, she went to work and scratched them later that afternoon at home.

“I was home relaxing, taking my time scratching the tickets,” said the cheerful winner. “I started screaming and my kids came running to see what was wrong.”

She shared the good news with them and then informed her sister of the big win.

“She’s the lucky one,” said her sister.

The winner, a Germantown resident, said she waited impatiently through the weekend to claim her prize. She needed a ride and had to wait until her sister was available to drive her.

The lucky winner, who plans to further her career by becoming a registered nurse, said she will use most of the prize money for Christmas shopping and bills.

“This is such a blessing,” she said. “And, will definitely help out with Christmas.”

The Diamond 7s ticket launched on Nov. 23 and still has four $100,000 top prizes remaining, along with 11 more $10,000 prizes.
