Wins $50,000 Playing Maryland Lottery Hit the Jackpot Scratch-off
A grateful Baltimore grandmother who believes “you should never take more than you need” plans to share her $50,000 Maryland Lottery scratch-off win with family and charities. She won the second-tier prize on the Hit the Jackpot scratch-off.
The 62-year-old selected two of the $20 scratch-offs because she liked their appearance. After discovering they were not winning tickets, she decided to buy one more. The retired Royal Farms employee couldn’t believe her eyes when she scratched it off and matched five of the six jackpot numbers! Thinking the ticket was a $10,000 winner, she put on her reading glasses for a second look. Every number she matched was worth $10,000!
“That’s when I saw it was $50,000,” said the lucky player. She shared her good news with her daughter, who reacted with shock and surprise.
The lucky winner is very involved in local charities and already donates to homeless shelters, women’s shelters, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and several other organizations. She believes that what goes around comes back around.
“I always pay it forward, so I will continue to give to these charities,” said the happy Lottery player. In addition, she plans to share the winnings with her daughter and new granddaughter. She found her Lottery luck at Mini Stop located at 2413 Sparrows Point Road in Baltimore.
