Glen Burnie Butcher Carves Out $10,000 Scratch-off Win

Takes home prize on Maximum Jackpot game

273-Maximum-Jackpot-ITVMWhile on a break from work a couple of days ago, a Glen Burnie man decided to buy and play his daily batch of scratch-offs. He purchased two Maximum Jackpot tickets from the Food Lion in Severna Park and won $10 on the first one he scratched.

Feeling good about making his money back for that ticket, the Anne Arundel County butcher scratched the second ticket and couldn’t believe his eyes.

“I had matched all the numbers,” he told Maryland Lottery officials, with a smile, after claiming his prize at Lottery headquarters. “I had to use a calculator to add up all the dollar amounts. I was shocked to see it was $10,000.”

The 62-year-old quickly called his wife, who shared his surprise.

“I thought he was reading it wrong,” she said. “I asked if he was sure a few times.”

They are planning to take their first cruise, thanks to the windfall. “We were already looking into different cruises, but this will definitely help out,” he said.

He found his winning ticket at Food Lion #2523 located at 466 Ritchie Hwy. in Severna Park. In addition to five $100,000 and 19 $10,000 prizes, the Maximum Jackpot game has more than 500,000 other prizes remaining between $10 and $1,000.
