Joseph Gosnell’s list of wins reads like a Maryland Lottery game lineup. The 68-year-old Glen Burnie man has won playing Keno, Multi-Match, Pick 4 and now his latest and greatest prize – the $50,000 top prize on Bonus Match 5.
He discovered his most recent win on Saturday when he stopped to make his Lottery purchases. Joseph buys all his games on one day for the entire week. “I was filling out my tickets and happened to look up and see the winning numbers for the past drawings,” said the retired-truck driver. Since Joe always plays the same numbers, which happen to family birthdays, he quickly recognized his numbers matched. “I said to myself, ‘Wow, those are my numbers,” Joe told Lottery officials.
Though he clearly recognized he was a winner, his next thought was, “There’s something wrong with this ticket.” After having the clerk make a printout of the winning numbers, Joe was convinced of his good fortune and said, “Maybe, I’ll hit again.”
Married for 50 years, the father-of-one has no definite plans for his windfall. “I might put some away. I might buy a truck. I might play some more Lottery,” said Joe with a chuckle.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shahverdi’s liquors, located at 6719 Chesapeake Center Dr. in Glen Burnie.
