Keno player claims $10,000 prize
A combination of random numbers and birthdays gave a Glen Burnie woman a sweet Keno win, sending her to the Maryland Lottery Winner’s Circle to claim a $10,000 prize.
Her good fortune arrived on a normal day. The lucky woman decided to play her favorite game, Keno, at the Smoke Shop #2 located at 7422 E. Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie. “I usually play the same numbers,” she said, “hoping that they will one day come out.”
The 34-year-old assisted living employee played $5 on an 8-spot Keno ticket for five drawings using the numbers 7, 9, 18, 20, 26, 31, 34 and 80. Her hopes for a win finally came true! Her next question: How much was the prize?
“Even though I saw my numbers matched, I still didn’t know how much I won,” she said. The Anne Arundel County resident scanned the ticket using the store’s ticket checker and the cashier told her the win was worth $10,000. The happy player shared her great news with her grandfather, and when she got a day off from work, they both came to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to claim the prize.
The winner plans to put her prize in the bank to enjoy in the future. For selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 and up, the Anne Arundel County retailer will receive a $100 bonus from the Lottery.
