Grandma Carries $50,000 Winning Powerball Ticket Everywhere

This lucky Lottery fan plans to start a nonprofit with her $50,000 winning Powerball prize!

Found her prize using her lucky numbers

A 43-year-old Baltimore woman walked around with $50,000 in her pocket for days and didn’t even know it! A winning Powerball ticket from the July 26 drawing was burning a hole in the unaware player’s pocket.

The lucky lady is an avid Maryland Lottery player, taking part in most of the Lottery’s games. She plays a set of lucky numbers, which are family birthdays and her favorite numbers. The Maryland state government employee has a pouch where she keeps her playslips and purchased tickets. The winning ticket she bought at 7-Eleven #39655 located at 705 Washington Boulevard in Baltimore was in her pouch until this week, when she decided to check it.

“I forgot all about the ticket,” said the winner. “I was organizing my pouch when I came across the ticket and decided to check it.”

Scanning the ticket at a local Lottery retailer gave her great news! She saw a message telling her to cash her prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.

“This is such a blessing,” she said, smiling. “This money is coming right on time.”

The mother of two adult children and grandmother to three plans to use the winnings to pay some bills, help her family and to contribute to a nonprofit organization she’s launching.

There’s still time to get a ticket for the Saturday, Aug. 5 drawing, too. The Powerball jackpot has kept rolling since June 14, reaching $286 million for the upcoming drawing. The cash option is $178 million.
