Grandmother Claims First $10,000 Prize on Betty Boop™ Scratch-off

Wicomico County woman takes home game’s top prize

An excited Fruitland woman, accompanied by two friends, took a trip to Maryland Lottery headquarters Monday to claim a $10,000 prize. She’s the first top-prize winner on the Betty Boop scratch-off that debuted March 27.

The 61-year-old purchased her lucky instant ticket last week at Eagle Express Mart in Fruitland and took it home to scratch. After revealing the $10,000 prize, she quickly called her friends to tell them all about it.

“I didn’t believe her,” said one of the friends with her in the Lottery Winner’s Circle. “I thought she was joking!”

The lucky Wicomico County store, Eagle Express Mart, is located at 101 North Camden Avenue.

The Betty Boop ticket still has five $10,000 top prizes remaining. In addition to instant cash prizes between $2 and $10,000, the Betty Boop game offers a fun second-chance contest. Players who enter their non-winning Betty Boop scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards are automatically entered for a chance to win one of four Ocean City vacations. Each prize consists of a weeklong stay in Ocean City and a $1,000 Visa gift card.
