Grateful Grandma Wins $50,000 Lottery Prize on Valentine’s Day

Baltimore woman’s family plays role in big Bonus Match 5 win

A lucky Baltimore grandmother has her mother, children and grandchildren to thank for helping a $50,000 Bonus Match 5 prize come her way on Valentine’s Day.

Her mother stopped at a Lottery retailer to buy the winner’s ticket for seven drawings spanning Feb. 10-16. On Feb. 14, one line of the winning ticket matched the five winning numbers of 4, 6, 10, 24 and 39. The lucky lady said she plays those numbers because they are the ages of her children and grandchildren.

“I finally did it!” exclaimed the 50-year-old as she claimed her prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters. “I have been playing those numbers for the last five years and yesterday was my day! It has been a long time in the making for my special numbers to come out.”

The happy winner already has plans for her prize. “I cannot wait to share my winnings with my family,” she said. Her son, who was sitting by her side, smiled from ear to ear as his mother told Lottery officials all about her big win.

The winner’s mother works in the Montgomery Park Business Center in Baltimore across the street from 7-Eleven #35731, which was the lucky retailer. The city retailer is also a winner. The store located at 1769 Washington Boulevard will earn a bonus of $500 from the Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket in the game.
