Grocery Shopper Adds $30,000 Winning Scratch-off to her Cart

Claims last top prize in World Championship Poker game

202-World-Championship-Poker-ITVM_P2-blackA grocery-shopping Frederick woman bagged a great deal at Giant Eagle – a $30,000 top-prize World Championship Poker scratch-off. Her decision to add a few scratch-offs to her cart led to loads of moolah.

“I had a few bucks left over after I was done at the market and I saw one of the Lottery’s vending machines as I was leaving,” she said. “I figured I’d grab a few scratch-off tickets.”

The 50-year-old waited to scratch her instant tickets until she arrived home and put her groceries away. Her winning ticket was the last one she scratched. “I remember looking at the ticket and I felt like my eyes weren’t telling me the truth,” she said. “I just feel like I’m in total shock right now.”

The lucky player, who lives on a fixed income, said that the money will definitely help her replace her old truck. “I can now get a car that has air conditioning in it,” she said. “It’s been hot these past few days and now I can get a car that I can be comfortable in.” She also planned to give some of winnings to her family and pay a few bills.

Giant Eagle #1841 located at 1275 West Patrick Street in Frederick is also a winner! The Lottery will give the lucky retailer a $300 bonus for selling the last top-prize scratch-off in the World Championship Poker game.
