Matches seven of seven numbers on winning ticket
Many happy winners come through the doors of the Maryland Lottery’s Winners’ Circle, but there was something different about Ida Dobson. When she entered the room yesterday, not only was she smiling, but she was also dancing!
The Gwynn Oak woman had good reason to be happy. A few hours earlier, she purchased a 7-spot Keno ticket with the Super Bonus multiplier from the nearby Woodmoor Shell Food Mart. Ida took the ticket with her, and later checked the numbers on her iPad using the Lottery’s app.
“I was shocked to see I matched all seven numbers,” the federal government worker told Lottery officials. “I got even more excited when I saw the Super Bonus multiplier was a six!”
Ida quickly called her sister, who accompanied her to Lottery headquarters.
“I answered the phone and she calmly told me she won $15,000,” said Ida’s sister, who thought she was joking because she was so calm at the time.
Ida’s lucky numbers are special to her and to her family. She plays the birthdays of her siblings as well as her own birthday, just like her mother used to do before she passed away. In addition to matching all seven numbers in that game, Ida matched a few other numbers in a different game on that ticket for an additional $4.
The generous winner plans to share some of her prize with family members and use some toward an already planned vacation next month.
Woodmoor Shell Food Mart located at 7001 Liberty Road in Gwynn Oak, wins, too! For selling a winning Keno ticket of $10,000 or more, the Baltimore County store will earn a $150 bonus – equal to 1 percent of the prize.
