Catonsville man claims game’s first $50,000 top prize

A Double T Diner employee who hit a home run with the Maryland Lottery’s Baseball Bucks scratch-off wasted no time claiming his $50,000 top prize.

In fact, Jose Ochoa of Catonsville was so excited about his win that he immediately picked up two sons for the trip to Lottery headquarters in Baltimore. The father of four claimed the first $50,000 top prize on the Baseball Bucks game.

“I still can’t believe it,” Jose said. “I am very happy.”

The 43-year-old found his lucky scratch-off after work. He stopped at the Quik Mart in Annapolis to purchase scratch-offs and selected four Baseball Bucks instant tickets. He played the $5 games in the store and discovered the $50,000 win.

Jose plans to use a portion of the winnings to buy a new car and to visit his home country, El Salvador, where his other two sons live. He is still deciding what he will do with the rest of the prize.

For selling the top-prize ticket, Quik Mart located at 2042 West Street in Annapolis received a $500 bonus from the Lottery.

Baseball Bucks is an exciting scratch-off game that, in addition to the $50,000 top prize, offers a second-chance contest. Players enter their non-winning tickets through My Lottery Rewards for the chance to be selected as “Contestant of the Game” and win cash prizes. Check out details at mdlottery.com/baseball. There are four $50,000 top prizes remaining on the game.
