Harford County Man Notches Second Big Scratch-off Win

2020 Cash top prize gives Aberdeen man second big win since October

Winning big on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off game is a dream for many. But how about winning twice in the span of only two months?

Well, this amazing feat happened for an Aberdeen scratch-off fan, and he is so excited about his pair of brushes with good fortune.

The 72-year-old Harford County man first visited Lottery Headquarters back in October after playing The Price is Right® scratch-off game. He picked the ticket because the long-running TV gameshow of the same name is one of his favorites, and he won a whopping $50,000!

Fast-forward to this week, and the retired military man was back in the Lottery’s Winners’ Circle room with the same jolly smile as he claimed a $20,200 top prize on the 2020 Cash scratch-off game.

“I went to purchase a few of the $10 tickets,” said the happy winner. “And, then I saw that shiny $20 2020 Cash ticket glistening in the scratch-off case and I just had to have some of them as well.”

The Aberdeen resident purchased his tickets and took them home to play. When he revealed a “star” symbol and the $20,200 prize underneath, he just couldn’t believe it. He said that he immediately took the ticket to his wife and son to share the good news.

“What are the chances?” said the winner’s son who accompanied his dad to claim the prize. “He’s just really lucky and I am so happy for him.”

The winner plans to use his prize money to make home repairs and to do a bit of holiday shopping.

The retailer that sold the winning ticket is celebrating too. Short Stop Beverage, located at 719 S. Philadelphia Blvd. in Aberdeen, will receive a $202 bonus from the Lottery.

The 2020 Cash scratch-off ticket launched in November and still has 199 unclaimed top prizes of $20,200 and more than $48 million in total cash prizes.
