Double checking numbers reveals $50,000 prize
A Harford County resident had to do a double take on the winning numbers for the March 29 Bonus Match 5 drawing to find a $50,000 top prize hiding on the ticket.
The lucky winner played a set of favorite numbers for both the March 28 and March 29 Maryland Lottery Bonus Match 5 drawings. The Marylander purchased a $4 ticket at Post Road Liquors, located at 1123 Revolution Street in Harve de Grace. The winner didn’t watch either of the drawings, but noticed the winning numbers from March 29 displayed on TV before heading off to work on the morning of March 30.
“At first I thought I had three of them, and that was $15, and I was happy with that,” the winner said. “Then, I saw the numbers on the screen again and said, ‘Oh, wait, I’ve got all five. That’s $50,000!”
After a brief celebration at home, the winner headed to work and didn’t tell anyone the big news. It’s by far the largest prize this Bonus Match 5 enthusiast has ever won, dwarfing a previous best of $30. The winner plans to put the money into investments.
The Harford County retailer wins, too! For selling a top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket, Post Road Liquors will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery.
