“Diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” is a saying that has proven to be true for Lou Ann Keyser. With 21 chances to win on the Diamonds & 7s scratch-off, she scratched her was to a $100,000 top prize.
One morning last week, Lou Ann made her routine stop at the 7-11 near her house. She usually purchases the crossword scratch-offs, but that day she wanted to try something new. The 75-year-old bought one Diamonds & 7s ticket and scratched it in her car. She had a feeling the ticket was a winner, but wanted to be certain since her eyes aren’t too good without her reading glasses. She hurried back to her house and asked her daughter to check the ticket. The lucky winner realized her eyes were not deceiving her as her daughter jumped up and down in excitement after confirming that the ticket was a $100,000 winner.
The Churchville retiree plans to pay her land taxes and save the rest of her winnings. The winning ticket was purchased at 7-11, located at 3901 Pulaski Hwy. in Abingdon.
