Edgemere woman wins $10,000 on Lottery Jolly Reindeer Winnings scratch-off
A teary-eyed Edgemere woman got an early holiday gift on Halloween when she claimed the $10,000 top prize on a Maryland Lottery Jolly Reindeer Winnings scratch-off.
The lucky 48-year-old bought the $2 ticket several weeks ago while shopping in Baltimore’s Lexington Market. Her day was going badly, she recalled, and she felt as if a dark cloud hovered over her.
“I had a nail in my tire and then my battery died,” reported the frustrated winner. In fact, health and work issues had made the entire past year a challenge, she said. The loyal Lottery player was hoping for good luck as she bought one Jolly Reindeer Winnings scratch-off at the Tobacco Stop at 400 W. Lexington Street. Feeling optimistic, the Baltimore County resident headed to her car to scratch the ticket.
“This can’t be!” the lucky player remembers thinking when she revealed match after match on the ticket. “It added up to $10,000 and I thought I must be reading it wrong,” she said. The dark cloud had lifted. The former bartender could now get her car fixed without worrying about money!
She plans to pay bills with her winnings and purchase a new winter coat. “Mostly,” she said, “I want a spa day and to get my hair done.” She sighed and told Lottery officials that it has been some time since she could pamper herself.
There are three $10,000 top-prize winning tickets and six $5,000 second-tier winning tickets on sale in area stores. The ticket, which launched in October, has other prizes ranging from $2 to $1,000.
