Wins top prize on 2020 Cash game
A Harford County man waited until three weeks into 2020 before claiming the $20,200 top prize he won playing the fun 2020 Cash scratch-off.
The 61-year-old manufacturer recalls purchasing the game from the BP gas station located at 1001 Pulaski Highway in Havre de Grace. He enjoys playing scratch-offs and other Lottery games. On the day he found his lucky scratch-off, the loyal fan only bought the 2020 Cash game. The Havre de Grace resident then scanned the prize check area on the popular instant ticket to see if he won.
“I couldn’t believe the message said I won $20,200,” said the father and grandfather. “I was so happy.”
The big winner then scratched off the instant ticket to see how he won. After revealing the top prize, he tucked the scratch-off away in his wallet until he could come to Baltimore to claim his prize. He told Lottery officials that he will pay bills with his winnings and save whatever is left over.
The BP gas station benefits from his win too. For selling the top-prize winning scratch-off in the game, the Harford County retailer will receive a $202 bonus from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
Plenty of top prizes remain for 2020 Cash players. Of the 212 top prizes the $20 game originally offered, 176 are still awaiting discovery. The New Year-themed ticket debuted in mid-November.
