Jackpot rolls as three states seek their second-tier winners
The Maryland Lottery is looking for the Powerball player who bought a $1 million winning ticket in Clinton for the Wednesday, July 16 drawing. Tuckers Liquors at 8100 Old Alexandria Ferry Road sold the ticket, which matches the winning numbers of 5-15-18-26-32; the Power Ball was 35.
Maryland was one of three states with second-tier winners, joining South Carolina and Virginia. In all, the state saw 9,033 winners. The lucky ticket matched all five white balls, missing only the Power Ball number. No one won the jackpot, which rolled to $60 million with a $35.9 million cash option for the Saturday, July 19 drawing.
For selling the second-tier winning ticket, the retailer receives a $2,500 bonus. The winner has 182 days to claim the prize in person at Lottery headquarters, located at 1800 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore.
This latest $1 million win is the eighth second-tier Powerball win in Maryland this year and the second one within a week. Rodriquez DaCosta of Elkton claimed the second-tier winning ticket sold by Happy 40 Liquors in Elkton for the July 12 drawing.
