Hospital Visit Brings Luck to Grasonville Woman

Wins $30,000 Playing Blackout Bingo Game

Blackout BingoVisiting a sick relative in the hospital is rarely a happy experience.  It’s a nice thing to do, of course, and hopefully it raises the patient’s spirits, but it almost never results in shouts of joy.  Well, yesterday’s hospital visit by a Queen Anne’s County woman proved to be very much the exception as, moments after arriving, she scratched her way to $30,000.

“We stopped for gas near the hospital and I asked my son to get me six Blackout Bingo scratch tickets,” today’s winner told officials.  Why Blackout Bingo and why six of them?  “It’s my favorite game and six has always been my lucky number,” she explained, “And, wouldn’t you know it, it was that sixth ticket that won for me.”

Surprisingly, this instant ticket veteran thought at first that she’d won just $500.  “My son and I looked again and noticed a few more matches.  You should have heard me yelling when we figured out how much it was worth.”  Her Lottery winnings, she told us, would be spent on her family – those who are sick and those who are well.  “Everyone will get some happiness out of this.”

Lottery luck found our Grasonville winner at the Shell Station, 110 South Washington St .in Easton.
