Bel Air man claims game’s first $50,000 top prize
The scorching summer weather that has Marylanders feeling hot under the collar didn’t stop a Bel Air fan from choosing to play a game so hot it is billed as being “on fire.” The new Hot 5s Hot Streak game lived up to its name and its advertising slogan by delivering its first $50,000 top prize to the 58-year-old.
The Harford County resident found his blazing hot win at a Forest Hill Royal Farms. He visited the store early one morning and saw a variety of scratch-off games. Despite the big selection, the loyal player knew right away which $5 game he wanted to try. He selected two Hot 5s Hot Streak scratch-offs.
Even before the cashier could give him his change, the lucky man started scratching off both instant tickets. He found no lucky prize hiding on the first game but better luck awaited on the second scratch-off! The player revealed an odd-looking number five that resembled the number five in the name of the scratch-off. He then read the rules on the instant ticket and realized he won something! He had to finish scratching below the five symbol to uncover the $50,000 prize.
The winner told Lottery officials that he plans to put the prize toward a new home and to boost his savings. Because this was a top-prize winning scratch-off, the Forest Hill convenience store that sold the game will join in on this win. Royal Farms #199 at 1526 Rock Springs Road in Howard County earns a $500 bonus from the Lottery. Congrats to both winners!
The new game still has plenty of big prizes awaiting discovery. Players can look for six more $50,000 prizes, nine $5,000 prizes and hundreds of thousands of other prizes ranging from $5 to $1,000.
