Prince George’s County woman wins top prize on $10 ticket
A lucky Clinton woman who detoured to the Pinefield Sunoco in Waldorf to play the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 3 and Pick 4 games wound up leaving with a $10 Monopoly scratch-off, too.
When the 56-year-old scratched off the ticket at home, she enjoyed a surprise.
“That baby was a hot one,” the winner said after she matched a digit from the “your numbers” section on the scratch-off to one of the “Monopoly numbers.” Then, she revealed the ticket’s top $100,000 prize. “Oh my goodness, this is the big one!”
The 35-year customer service representative told Lottery officials that she remained remarkably calm compared to her husband of 23 years. She had to calm him down after she woke him up to share her great news.
The mother of three and grandmother of eight said she always knew that she would one day win a large prize from the Lottery. She won $5,000 about five years ago but waited for a prize with a few more zeroes.
She and her husband hope to retire soon; this newfound fortune could speed up their timetable. They plan to deposit most of the prize in the bank and use a portion to pay off debts.
Now is the time to purchase your Monopoly scratch-offs and try to win one of the four $100,000 top prizes remaining. Want to visit our winner’s lucky Charles County retailer? Pinefield Sunoco is located at 2030 Crain Highway in Waldorf. The Lottery will give the retailer a $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket.
