Wins $100,000 on the 40 Rubies Scratch-off Ticket
A Clarksville resident has a big reason to celebrate the Lottery’s 40th anniversary thanks to a 40 Rubies scratch-off win. The man, who is also a fan of Keno and Mega Millions, was completely shocked to learn his $10 ticket was worth $100,000.
The 52-year-old told Lottery officials that he always plays the $10 and $20 scratch-off tickets, hoping to win a larger prize. He certainly took home a big prize courtesy of the 40 Rubies, the scratch-off specially commissioned for the Lottery’s anniversary. While lucky winner had always dreamed of winning, he never thought it was actually possible. “I really didn’t plan for this,” he said. “I’m just so happy. Thank you very much to the Maryland Lottery!”
For now, his wife is the only other person who knows about the $100,000 win. He mentioned that she was very excited about their new found fortune and still couldn’t believe that they had won that much.
The winner plans to pay off his car and take care of his two children’s college tuitions. The lucky ticket was purchased at Y N S Liquors at 601 West Lexington Street in Baltimore. In addition to the five remaining instant top prizes, players can mail in non-winning tickets for the chance to win up to $40,000 at Lottery events held throughout the year.
