Howard County Man Hits Bonus Match 5 Jackpot

An anonymous Howard County man strolled into Maryland Lottery headquarters on Monday morning to claim a $50,017 winning Bonus Match 5 ticket from the Saturday, Nov. 24 drawing.

The 72-year-old retiree is a Lottery regular, playing at least one of the available draw games about four times a week. His favorite games are Pick 3 and Pick 4, Bonus Match 5, Multi-Match and Keno. Unlike many players, our winner rarely chooses his own numbers. He prefers to play a random quick-pick ticket and that’s just what won the top prize on Nov. 25. His two-draw ticket also had four lines of personal numbers and one of those hit for $15 and one line for $2 in the Nov. 24 drawing.

The lucky player is no stranger to the Winner’s Circle at Lottery headquarters. This trip marked his fourth journey to headquarters to claim a big prize.

When asked his plans for the winnings, the happy Columbia resident said, “Everything’s a blessing.” He plans to put this money toward family medical and educational bills.

Another winner is the lucky Lottery retailer. For selling a top-prize Bonus Match 5 ticket, Oakland Mills Liquors at 5888 Robert Oliver Place in Columbia will earn a $500 bonus from the Lottery. Congratulations to both winners!
