Claims final top prize on $250,000 High Rollers Club game
A few weeks ago, a 71-year-old Woodbine man who entered Winfield Wine & Spirits in Westminster to purchase a Lottery scratch-off left the store in complete shock. He discovered a $250,000 top prize.
“I had a funny feeling all day, so I stopped at the store on my way home,” said the lucky winner, nicknamed “Money Bags.” “I scratched the ticket while I was there, and when I saw how much I won, my knees starting buckling.”
Prior to playing the $250,000 High Rollers Club scratch-off, the clerk told the winner that someone had been in the store earlier and almost bought that ticket.
“I told him it would be nice if this was a winning ticket,” “Money Bags” told Lottery officials as he sat with his wife in the Winner’s Circle at Lottery headquarters. “I couldn’t believe that it wound up being worth $250,000!”
“Money Bags” and his wife, who plan to put the prize in the bank, aren’t the only winners. For selling the top-prize ticket in the game, Winfield Wine & Spirits at 1707 W. Liberty Rd. in Westminster will receive a $1,000 bonus.
