Hunt for Lottery Logos Pays off for Frederick County Man

Wins $50,000 Logo Hunt Promotion Prize

Mike Higgins - Logo HuntMichael Higgins was on his way to the Eastern Shore to visit a friend when he realized he hadn’t checked to see if he won any of the prizes from the Lottery’s Logo Hunt Promotion.  He called his wife, Shawn, and asked her to check the Lottery’s website to see if he won $1,000.  His wife called him back screaming, and said, “We got the $50,000 third prize!”  “I was stunned and my wife was in disbelief,” the 53-year old said.  The visit to see his friend was supposed to last overnight, but the Myersville man cut the trip short and came home the same night. “I couldn’t sleep all night and I kept going to the website to convince myself that I was the Michael Higgins whose name was on there.”

Michael’s entry was selected from more than 45,000 entries.  The couple, whose luck continues with a $900 Racetrax win this morning, plans to pay bills and go on a nice trip next year, possibly to Ireland, for their 25th anniversary.

The $2 Million Logo Hunt Promotion ran from February 7th through March 13th, with the drawing taking place on March 22nd.  Throughout the promotion, Lottery players randomly received one of three Lottery logos on their ticket.  After collecting all three logos on non-winning tickets, players mailed them in for the chance to win cash prizes.  In addition to Michael’s $50,000 prize, other big winners include Monica Watts from Baltimore who won $250,000, Shirley Pittman from Silver Spring who won $100,000 and 50 other Maryland Lottery players who won $1,000 each.
