Husband and Wife Team Play and Win $50,000

Win with Player’s Club Scratch-Off

Player's ClubWhen a mother-of-three was asked why she was crying by her two youngest children, she responded, “I am fine, these are happy tears.” This is what a Laurel resident shared with Lottery officials today after claiming a $50,000 prize playing the Player’s Club scratch-off.

The winner was at the gas station filling up her oldest daughter’s car when she purchased the Player’s Club scratch-off. She chose the ticket because the game number was 813, which happens to be her son’s birthday. She took it home where she and her husband scratched the ticket together. Thinking the win was only $20, she let her husband have a second look. “I said hey, you have $5,000 times ten,” he said. “Tears came running down my face,” said the lucky player. “My prayers have been answered.”

The assistant scientist said she had been praying for some extra cash to go home to see her ailing father, who lives out of the country. “Now, the whole family can go,” she said.

In addition to visiting her father, the winner and her husband will use some of the winnings towards home remodeling. The Player’s Club ticket was purchased at Sandy Spring Exxon, located at 7801 Old Sandy Spring Road in Laurel.
