Claims $50,000 Hot Hand Scratch-Off Instant Prize
Yesterday was pretty amazing for Alex Amaya-Guardado of Hyattsville. The native of El Salvador, stopped by the Crown Liquors at 6579 Ager Road in Hyattsville on his way to work as a painter. He played one instant game, won, and with part of his winnings decided to try one more. He chose the Hot Hand scratch-off because it had been good to him in the past. When finished scratching his ticket, Alex thought he saw a win, but didn’t believe it. He looked again closely, closed his eyes and looked once more. It was still there – a $50,000 win. “I couldn’t talk,” he told Lottery officials. “I tried to find the words but couldn’t.”
After stepping outside for some fresh air, he went back into the store to confirm his win with the cashier. He then called his family to share the news. A few hours later they were at Lottery Headquarters to claim the prize. Alex plans to help his family here in Maryland with some of his winnings, but first wants to plan a trip back home to see his mother in El Salvador.
The Hot Hand scratch-off is more than 88% sold and still has one $50,000 top prize available to be won.
