Claims $48,228 prize on a Racetrax Superfecta bet
A Hyattsville resident attributes his recent $48,228 Racetrax win to a matter of timing rather than luck because he frequently plays Lottery games and visits Maryland casinos.
“I believe it’s just being in the right place at the right time,” said the 56-year-old, who is a Racetrax aficionado.
The ultra-punctual Prince George’s County resident stopped at Wawa #593 in Beltsville to buy gas and then decided to buy a Racetrax ticket. He bought 10 draws and placed a Superfecta bet on horses No. 4, 12, 10 and 3 to finish in that exact order. When the loyal player visited another nearby store, he decided to stop and check his ticket and that’s when the ticket checker told him to claim his prize at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
The lucky winner, who has worked for the Washington, D.C. Metro for 16 years, shared news of his win with his daughter and a few other family members and friends. He plans to use his prize for a vacation to the Dominican Republic and to purchase a home.
Also a winner is Wawa #593, which is located at 10515 Baltimore Avenue. The Prince George’s County store will also receive a $482 bonus for selling a winning ticket of $10,000 or more.
