Ice Cream Break Turns Into Scratch-Off Payday

Annapolis woman stops for a treat, wins $10,000

192-Instant-Millionaire-ITVM_P4-greenEven though she frequently plays Maryland Lottery games, it wasn’t a scratch-off ticket that brought an Annapolis secretary into a Lottery retailer on Wednesday. She wanted an ice cream treat – something to cool her down on one of the first hot days of the year.

She ended up with that and enough prize money to buy cool treats all summer and beyond: The Anne Arundel County resident won a $10,000 prize playing Instant Millionaire.

“I really enjoy playing Lottery scratch tickets, especially the $20 games,” she said. “I went in the deli for the ice cream and decided to get a ticket while I was there. I’ve been having luck with Instant Millionaire recently, so that’s what I chose.”

In her car outside Bullock’s Deli in Denton she discovered the surprise her ice cream stop held in store for her.

“I was stunned when I saw all of the matches. I looked at it over and over,” she said.

The 57-year-old wife and mother, who won the same amount playing an instant game earlier this year, immediately called her husband with news of another $10,000 win. His reaction: “What? Again? I don’t believe it.”

The couple plans to use the money to pay bills and will have enough to make this Sunday a memorable Mother’s Day.

“We’re so very blessed, in lots of different ways,” the lucky winner said. “I’m grateful for this win, and for the fun I find playing the games.”

The Instant Millionaire game launched on Feb. 23 and still has two available $1 million top prizes in addition to five $50,000 prizes and 21 $10,000 prizes.
