Ijamsville Resident is Now Million Dollar Man

Wins $1,000,000 playing Silver and Gold Scratch-Off

It’s been nearly two months since the Thursday morning that an Ijamsville man pulled into Classic Fuels in New Market and left one million dollars richer. On December 8, the 45-year-old stopped to buy gas and purchased two Lottery scratch-offs. While still in the store, he scratched the first ticket with no luck and proceeded to play the second with much different results. “I just stood there for a minute,” said the winner. “The clerk asked me if I was ok and I said ‘I’m more than ok.’”

While trying to process his good fortune, a friend of his came into the store. “He asked me how I was doing,” said the father-of-three. “I told him, ‘I’m doing pretty good now.” The man then quickly drove to his girlfriend’s house to share the news.

“We had just been talking about what we would do if we won a lot of money,” said his girlfriend, who had accompanied the winner to Lottery Headquarters.  “Three days later, he arrives at my house and shows me this ticket.” That ticket was quickly put into a safety deposit box, where it remained until he came to claim his win.

The local business owner will use his windfall to pay off debt and take care of his children. He’ll also continue his occasional scratch-off play. “It’s even more exciting,” he said. “Now that I know people really do win.” The winning ticket was purchased at Classic Fuels, located at 11719 Old National Pike in New Market.
