Claims $10,000 prize playing Cookies and Cash scratch-off
Cookies and cash weren’t on a Frederick man’s grocery list but he’s sure glad he picked up a Maryland Lottery scratch-off by that name. He won $10,000!
The 40-year-old had made a quick dash to Weis Markets located at 2 Old Camp Road in Frederick to spend a few bucks on canned veggies and French fries. Before leaving, he bought a $2 Cookies and Cash scratch-off from a vending machine. He selected the newly released holiday-themed instant ticket because it was fresh on the market and he had never seen it before.
“As soon as I got outside, I began to scratch the ticket,” he said. “I kept checking and rechecking the ticket to make sure I was reading it right. Once I realized I was, I was in total shock.”
The happy winner told Lottery officials that he’d won several $100 prizes here and there but nothing this large. “This is by far the most I’ve ever won,” he said. “I still can’t believe it.”
The lucky man, who reads electric meters by trade, said he’d treat himself to an Xbox One® system and a new lawn mower and get a jump on his holiday shopping.
The Cookies and Cash scratch-off still has plenty of top-level prizes. Look for two more $10,000 top-prize tickets, five $5,000 winners and 10 $1,000 winners at your local Maryland Lottery retailer. You also can enter non-winning holiday-themed scratch-offs into the Lottery’s second-chance contest to win a Warehouse Dash® shopping spree or up to $10,000 in cash prizes.
