Independence Day Drawing Brings $50,000 Win to Baltimore Painter

Takes home Bonus Match 5 top prize

Although he didn’t know about his Lottery luck until the next day, an avid Bonus Match 5 player had a lot to celebrate on the Fourth of July. The painter matched all five Bonus Match 5 numbers on a ticket purchased at a Royal Farms store to win the game’s $50,000 top prize.

The morning of July 5, the Baltimore resident took his quick-pick ticket to a Lottery retailer and asked the clerk to print out the winning Bonus Match 5 numbers. After comparing those numbers to the numbers on his ticket, the 77-year-old realized he was a winner.

“He came home and woke me up,” said his wife of 48 years. “I thought something was wrong.”

She soon learned that they had a lot to celebrate. The husband and wife have no immediate plans for spending the prize, except to pay off some bills.

Royal Farms #61 located at 3333 E. Fayette St. in Baltimore will receive a $500 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket in the game. Bonus Match 5 drawings take place seven days a week. Players select five numbers ranging from 1 to 39. To win the $50,000 top prize, players must match all five numbers.
