Wins $100,000 Instant Top Prize
The 39-year-old Havre de Grace woman won’t be the only one celebrating her recent $100,000 win. “The nieces and nephews are getting their Christmas lists together,” said the winner’s boyfriend, who accompanied her to Lottery Headquarters to claim the top prize on the Instant Mega Millions/Powerball scratch-off ticket.
The happy twosome described Friday afternoon’s events. “I went to pick up a few things at the store,” said the winner. “I saw the Lottery’s instant ticket vending machine and just decided to buy a few tickets.” After purchasing six $5 instant tickets, the woman returned to work where she proceeded to scratch them. She won $15 on the first ticket, $5 on the second, nothing on the third or fourth, and then struck it rich on the fifth. “I just kept saying ‘Oh my God, oh my God.’” She quickly showed the scratch-off to her boyfriend who works with her. Still refusing to believe their good fortune, the pair returned to the store where the ticket was purchased and had a clerk check it. “She told me, ‘I can’t help you, it’s too big for us,’” said the winner. With her win confirmed, she signed the ticket, put it in a home safe and then waited until Monday morning to come claim her prize.
In addition to making the holidays happy for her nieces and nephews, the winner will pay down her mortgage and put her remaining winnings in the bank. The winning ticket was purchased at Kleins #4243, located at 949 Beards Hill Rd. in Aberdeen. The Instant Mega Millions/Powerball scratch-off still has three $100,000 top prizes remaining, six $10,000 prizes and many other instant chances to win. Players can also win a quick pick Mega Millions ticket with Megaplier and a Powerball ticket with Power Play.
