Carroll County woman claims top prize on $100,000 Crossword scratch-off

Changing her routine for playing Maryland Lottery scratch-offs brought a Millers resident a change of luck, too. The happy scratch-off fan bought two of the $100,000 Crossword scratch-offs and won twice!

“I am a daily player and have never won big like this before,” claimed the lucky woman, who won $10 on one instant ticket and the $100,000 top prize on the second scratch-off. She dubbed herself “It’s My Lucky Day” for Lottery publicity.

The loyal player found her lucky games at Piper’s Wine and Spirit Barn in Manchester. As the 54-year-old began to scratch off the first of the two instant tickets, she immediately felt the thrill of winning.

“I scratched off three words right off the bat,” said the happy winner. “When I finished the entire ticket, I had revealed nine words in total for the top prize of $100,000!”

After taking a long hard look at her scratch-off, the Carroll County resident called a friend who then insisted she send her a picture of the instant ticket. A careful review of the scratch-off by the two of them left both screaming, “It really is a $100,000 winner!” The mother plans to pay bills with her prize and share it with her family.

The lucky Carroll County retailer, which is located at 4127 Hanover Pike, also has reason to celebrate. The store earns a $1,000 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off of $100,000.

The $100,000 Crossword game still has four $100,000 top prizes remaining along with 10 $10,000 prizes and thousands of others ranging from $10 to $1,000.
